Start-up 101 is a comprehensive introduction to the exciting world of start-up. Providing you with essential knowledge and insights to kickstart our entrepreneurial journey, During this one-hour session, you will dive into the fundamentals of start-up.

In "Team Formation", we will focus on guiding you on forming a strong and complementary start-up team.

Topic 1: Ideation and Opportunity Recognition 
This session will focus on the process of generating creative ideas and recognise potential entrepreneurial opportunities. You will learn how to identify problems in the market and develop innovative solutions that can form a successful business venture



Topic 2: Getting Ready for Your Idea 
This session will focus on refining and developing ideas into viable business concepts. You will learn about market research, customer validation, feasibility analysis and understanding the competitive landscape, to equip you with the skills and knowledge to transform their ideas into actionable business plans


Topic 3: Setting Up Your Business 
This topic covers the fundamental aspects of setting up a business. You will be introduced different business models and learn to choose a right business structure to establish a solid foundation for your venture

 

Topic 4: Start-up Case Study 
You will study real-world cases of successful and failed startup. You will analysis those cases to gain insights into the journeys, challenges and strategies of these ventures. By examining different business models and success stories, you can learn valuable lessons and apply relevant principals to your own entrepreneurial endeavors
 

Topic 5: Design and Prototype  
You will learn principles of design thinking, user experience (UX) design and prototyping techniques. This topic is to help you to create user-centered products and services, and also learn to develop prototypes that can be tested, refined and validated before moving forward with actual production

 

Topic 6: Scale up and Pivot

You will learn how to effectively grow a startup. This involves strategies for expanding services and managing larger teams while maintaining quality. On the other hand, if the original direction of the startup is not running as expected and new direction is found based on the market feedback, a pivot is needed to change the core focus in a fundamental way



Topic 7. Financial Management
You will learn about financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and understanding key financial statements. You will gain a better understanding of how to manage finances effectively


Topic 8. Storytelling and Pitching
You will learn how to effectively communicate your ideas, create a compelling narrative around your business and deliver persuasive pitch to potential investors, partners and customers

 

Topic 9. Go to Market
You will learn about market segmentation, targeting, positioning, marketing channels, branding and customers acquisition strategies. You will gain insight into how to effectively reach your target customers and promote the product or services in the market

Topic 10. Social Entrepreneurship - Do Good, Do Well

You will explore the concept, principles, and characteristics of social entrepreneurship and understanding its potential for creating positive social impact.

For those INVESTED Program students who joined Cyberport Greater Bay

Area Young Entrepreneurship Programme (Cyberport GBA YEP), the

training bootcamp from Cyberport GBA Yep will also be counted as attendance INVESTED Program  

Embark on guided tours to the community and visit local enterprise. You can get an up-close look at the community and start-up. This immersive experience will broaden your horizons and provide you with insights and perspectives that can shape your start-up aspirations. 

Community Visit 

Date: Mid-December 
Time: Half Day (TBC) 

You will have an opportunity to present your business idea to your mentor. Share your vision, challenges and goals, your assigned mentor will offer you guidance on market validation, business strategy product development, and more, helping you refine your idea and create a solid foundation for succes. 

Mentorship Day

Date: 26 Jan, 7 Feb & 23 Feb 2024

You will have an opportunity to gain real-world experience in the thriving start-up ecosystem. By actively participating in the day-to-day operation of a start-up, you will gain practical insights, develop essential skills and build a strong foundation for a successful career in the start-up ecosystem.
